March on Washington, 1941

Protest planned by A. Philip Randolph to be held in Washington, D.C.

In 1941 A. Philip Randolph canceled his planned march in Washington, D.C. after President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Fair Employment Practices Committee to eliminate discrimination in World War II defense-industry hiring.
